My Students
We are the explorers, fifth graders from a Title One school in San Diego, CA. Do you remember books you have read growing up that touched your life in a special way and inspired you? That's how I feel about this book. "Save Me a Seat" is a great story about friendship, acceptance, power, and bullying in a story line that is very engaging and with a great message.
Unfortunately, our school does not have the money to buy this amazing book for my students.
I have bought 8 so far and need a full class set. Reading is powerful. Reading is magic. Reading can transform a child's life!
My Project
Reading can transform and inspire so many lives, mainly the life of a child! "Save Me a Seat" by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan has a great message of love, acceptance, compassion, power, friendship, and overcoming obstacles.
This book can transform my students' lives with its engaging story as they practice reading skills and work on character traits, story plot, conflict and resolution.
Students will be able to relate to the story and learn with the characters' struggles and successes in their lives and what is going on at the school. Plus, it will help my students to open up more about their feelings and inspire them to write personal narratives.
