This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is in an urban, high poverty area, and 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. My students have grown up in the inner city. Many of my students deal with poverty and crime on a daily basis, which might seem unimaginable to some of us. Although my students deal with trauma on a daily basis, they still come to school with a smile on their face, eager to learn and grow.
Each year I am more and more amazed at how my little ones are able to leave all of their troubles at home and come to school ready to learn.
I have seen so many children in my class grow so much in just ten short months. I know how hard my students have to work and they truly inspire me to be the best teacher I can be.
My Project
This year has been a year of UPS and DOWNS. My 5 year old students have made the best out of this unprecedented year. Since the very start of the year we have switched from online to in person more times than I can count on one hand. My students never cared how we were learning, just that we were doing it together!
This year was definitely filled with challenges and many unknowns.
I am hoping to provide my students with an outside graduation that awards them for their dedication to learning this 2020-2021 school year. I want to provide families with a beautiful display that they can remember forever. I hope to show my students that all their hard work led them to this moment, kindergarten graduation.
The materials listed will provide each student with a bucket filled with snacks, gifts and materials that will make for a successful virtual graduation after party!
