My Project

My students are in kindergarten through fifth grade with a variety of learning needs who attend a public school in an urban area in Pennsylvania. I teach at a Title I school where many of my students participate in the free school lunch program and Backpack Initiative food on the weekends. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn everything so they can be successful in the future.

I share a large classroom with two other special education teachers. This upgrade has been great, but dividing our classroom also limits the amount of board space available to use. Having a projector will allow us to expand upon our current small whiteboard, pull down a map and textbook all rolled into one. We will be able to present anything from a lesson, to a virtual field trip while providing a good view for every student. A projector will allow me to step away from the board and use a variety of videos, graphics, and tools to clarify any lesson confusion for my students. The portable speaker ensures even distribution of sound in all the parts of the classroom. Sharing a room where there may be three small groups with three individual speakers going at one time, it can be hard to be heard over each other. Most of the time in a classroom is spent listening, so it is essential to ensure that speech is delivered effectively in an audible manner for optimum hearing. The small cart will organize the projector and speaker, allowing it to be easily portable. Help us to engage students, providing smarter and more impactful visual presentations for more overall learning.
