Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love the fact that my students are eager to learn! Most importantly, despite the many challenges that they face at home, school, or in their community, they come to school with open hearts and minds. They’re like little sponges, waiting to absorb every and anything that I have to offer that would make their learning experience an enjoyable and rewarding one.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% living in one of the four shelters around our school, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment.
My students may forget what I say on a regular basis, but they’ll never forget how I make them feel!
My Project
To assist with making our learning environment more conducive to learning, I am requesting help with purchasing tables and chairs to replace the old worn furniture that is being occupied now. The furniture that exists now is rusted, broken, and in deplorable condition.
With much emphasis being placed on the curriculum and the purchase of books and supplemental programs, materials, and resources, furniture is not a priority.
Because most of my students are in school a minimum of 8 hours per day, comfort is a NECESSITY!
However, I know that being in a classroom with furniture that is comfortable and well-kept will make my learning environment more inviting. My students will want to come to school, to a place that feels more like HOME.
