My Students

My students are emerging creative artists and inquisitive learners who come to my inspiration art studio to explore learning through critical problem solving, community interactions and self expression. They are eager to share their stories through creating art while exploring their inner vision.

My students are aspiring beginning artists who enter the art studio with excitement to create visual learning memories and engage in their creative development.

They struggle with English as a second language and have limited experiences in exploring the world around them through creating or experimenting with media and methods of art.

My school is in an economically depressed area nestled in a business district where the urban environment is stark and drab. Most of these young artists do not have creative expressive materials at home. The art classroom is often an environment of first experiences of wonder, and accepted self expression.

My Project

A book can be the beginning of an artist's creativity. These books will engage my students in visual looking, comprehending and by leading through the author and illustrators example. The award winning stories are a great way to take the written word and make visual stories dynamic.

We will use these books to find our favorite illustrators, learn the importance of photography and realize that a picture can truly be worth 1000 words.

Help me engage my students creative muse with books that bring imagination alive. A book is magic.
