Help me give my students a PLAN for success with student planners for organization and academic success.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Haynes's classroom raised $425
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students, and I mean all 400+ that walk through the doors, come to us in need. In this school, we have to do our best to determine which need is the greatest at any given moment. Our students are from neighborhoods of high poverty. We are a Title I school and all of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.
We try to provide the best education, services and resources for students from across 32 zip codes in Philadelphia.
We welcome students from group homes, foster homes, shelters, residential facilities, and juvenile justice centers as well. However, trying to ensure that their basic needs are met so they can begin to focus on education and have the same opportunities as students attending private, charter, or special admission schools is difficult when our school is already underfunded.
My Project
Transition from a small, one classroom 8th grade building, to a large High School for 9th grade is daunting for some. It can be overwhelming and hard to keep things straight. For these students, teaching them how to set goals and write down tasks becomes a tool for success.
We will use these planners as a tool, to teach students how to become successful in their life inside of school and out.
We want to emphasize the work life balance that students will need to be equipped with for post secondary training in college and careers.
Each Friday, we will work with a small group of students to review their "glows" and "grows" regarding their academics and attendance. We will use the planner to teach the students how to be accountable for their own success.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
