This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are many benefits of using a garden to teach students. A garden allows students to actively participate in their learning process through hands-on application of the standards learned. Students will learn to be global citizens, care for our planet, and become motivated to collaborate with and help others. Gardening teaches students healthy lifestyle habits, discipline, planning, and creativity.

The lessons from a garden go beyond the students and their academic learning; it also impacts their lives, families, and communities.

We are currently seeking to become a STEM-certified school. These resources, such as the hand trowels, shovels, and the soil test kit will allow our students to use STEM concepts and math skills to experience the standards firsthand and apply their knowledge to real-world problems.
