My Students

My students are smart, thoughtful and funny. They bring so much joy to the classroom! I truly look forward to seeing them, and love to see their progress week after week. Our school has a large Spanish speaking population, and I learn something new about my students' culture, family, and background every day.

I feel a sense of community when I enter our school; the relationships between students, parents, and staff are positive and strong.

The students, as well as the parents, know that if they have a question or concern, it will be addressed.

The students are currently working very hard at mastering the different technology programs at our school in order to prepare them for middle school, high school, and college. We empower our students with 21st century skills! Our school is comprised of students from Kindergarten to fifth grade; students move on to middle school with the tools they need to succeed!

My Project

I would like to give my students the experience and responsibility of checking out books in their own classroom, in addition to providing them with interesting reading material at their level. Having a simple checkout system will also give students more incentive to read, and give them a chance to pick high interest material.

Our students do not currently have a school library, where students can check out books.

The scanner checkout system would provide a way for me to keep track of what they are reading. It will also give parents an insight as to how many books their child has read in class. In addition, each student will have their own bag to take home, which will hold their library book.
