Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach NGSS Biology and Health Ed. in a large school that is underfunded and lacks a lot of basics that make teaching and learning easier. My students deserve to have all of the resources that other area schools are able to deploy. The students are excited to be back and to learn so providing them a great space to feel comfortable in is half of it.
My students attend a large, comprehensive public high school in an urban area; they are diverse in every sense of the word.
My students are so appreciative to be back in the classroom and so I would really like to provide them with a great learning space. Kids really want to learn and they have the ability to take in a lot more than we think and so I want to provide the space for them to have the freedom to show my explanations and interesting visuals for them.
My Project
I will be using the chess set as a way for student to learn about the function of organelles. They will play and as they play there will be a card set that has the functions and they will have to name the organelle before they are able to make their move. This will be a fun way to learn with memorizing the functions on their own. I also will have a hand sanitizer that they can use at the end of the day and stay clean before moving on.
