Help me give my students a fun classroom space where they feel welcomed and safe to learn through class-building activities, music, and team-building games.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students spent a significant portion of their day in my classroom: it is a second home to them. I want to make sure my students feel welcomed and safe when they enter my classroom.
Having a speaker and team-building and class-building activities will create a classroom community in which my students feel part of a safe community.
I want my mathematicians to come to the classroom and be ready to learn and this only happens when students feel safe in the classroom.
The addition of these resources to my classroom will create a space in which students feel welcome. Having a speaker would set a happy, welcoming tone by having music playing at the beginning of class and during class activities. Additionally, the team-building and class-building games will help students feel comfortable within the classroom and with their classmates, which will eventually increase participation and students will be engaging in meaningful math conversations with their peers.
