A Full Tummy Feeds a Full Mind

Help me give my students the snacks they ask for to have a wonderful educational day. These snacks will help ensure that my first graders are not hungry during class and have a snack to take home.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a low-income area where over 90% of the students are on free or reduced-price lunches. Food security can be difficult for my families. Students often feel hungry throughout the day and oftentimes ask for snacks. For most of my first graders, this is their first experience in school since the COVID-19 pandemic, the first time that they have reliable access to a meal. I would love for my students to have one less thing to worry about by also being able to provide them with snacks throughout the day and snacks they can take home. Having snacks in the classroom will prepare the students for learning and will allow them to achieve their educational goals.

My Project

My first-grade class truly feels like a classroom, comprised of 21 diverse, engaging, thoughtful, and creative students.

My students are bright, willing to learn, and often say they are hungry.

Help me feed my students' stomachs and minds.

Other treats will be used to reward my students who show good behavior based on the high expectations at my school and in my classroom. Students earn ClassDojo points every day that they can redeem for goodies every Friday.
