My Students

Most of the students attended the same elementary school and have been friends for several years. To them, their classmates are close, like their family. They support and help each other along the way in their journey of learning. They are creative, innovative, and curious.

Our school is a Title I school.

Many of our students come from low-income families; all of our students receive free lunch. Many of them will hopefully be the first in their families to go to college. Over half of them do not speak English at home, and for many, English is not their first language. Most of them are ELLs (English Language Learners). The diverse student population helps the students to embrace differences and bring in learning opportunities to one another.

My Project

Over the summer, we moved to a different building. For students being in a brand new environment and coming back to in-person learning, it has been a few months of adapting to changes. We did different hands-on learning experiments and activities in our science class.

Having a lab fridge will give us a chance to explore our imaginations and conduct investigations to find the answers to our curious questions!

The fridge will help us to have the materials we need in the classroom lab. It will help us separate lab experiment materials from the teacher's room refrigerator and making it safer for all of us. For example, the fridge can help us keep certain materials at a different temperature as we explore solid, liquid and gas. We can also explore what happens to plant growth at a cooler temperature. This will allow us to investigate and learn more!
