We have moved! It's like starting over in Pre-K! We need to get organized! Chaos is not conducive to learning! Our things need to be consolidated, and reorganized. We need many new cubby boxes to store our snacks, shoes and paint shirts!
I have two groups of 17 students, for a total of 34 students.
My students are four and five year olds! They are just beginning their education journey. It is here, in Pre-K, we lay the foundation for their life-long learning process. We have just moved into the public Elementary School that houses Pre-K to Grade 2. Prior to this, we had been housed in our own building, but as room became available to us, we moved. These kids are like sponges, ready to soak up information! They love school! They are eager to experience new things and learn all that they can. These kids are full of love and they are awesome!
My Project
Currently, our classroom is crowded and cluttered. By purchasing bins, boxes and cubbies, this can be changed! At this time, children are sharing cubbies, and that makes it difficult to fit their shoes, paint shirts and snacks. Each child deserves his/her own space! Extra cubbies will allow that to happen. Also, I plan to use the small, flat boxes for "center" time. At the beginning of each week, these boxes will be prepared for the centers for the week. The children will have everything they need to complete each center, so at work time, they can focus only on their work, and so can I! I can move around and work with all of my students, because everything needed is there and I won't be running around getting all of the pieces and parts. In addition, by having toys and art supplies in labeled buckets/bins, children are responsible for putting things away properly. This teaches responsibility and by reading labels, they are building their pre-reading skills!
The students in Pre-K are just beginning their educational journey.
It should be a pleasant experience, in a bright, neat classroom. I wish to create such a classroom. By having bins to store our supplies and toys, students will be responsible for keeping their room neat & clean. By having all of the center time supplies ready I will also be able to spend more time with them. Children can learn much more in a neat environment. Having a space for everything, and everything in its place!
