This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are ones who define the word resiliency. They live in low socioeconomic communities, which results in limited access to resources; however this does not have a negative effect on their abilities intellectually, socially, or inter-personally.
We take all of the bad and turn it into good.
The challenges my students face on a daily basis give them a unique view of the world. We overcome these challenges together, at least for the moment, through our classrooms ability to work as one community.
My Project
My students have worked hard all year overcoming the challenges of learning from home while dealing with life during the pandemic. They have not been in the classroom or even the school building for over a year! I want my new students to return to school to a fresh, clean, colorful classroom that will make them remember why they love coming to school daily so much!
I am going to make the classroom feel cozy and bright with the new bookshelf, pencil sharpeners, lamps, and a comfy reading cushion.
The headphones from last year need to be replaced with a new organization system to keep them secure and clean. We need to make sure we all stay safe as well, so it is important to restock our classroom with cleaning supplies, as well as fresh new bulletin boards to engage their minds during class time. I have also included a weekly subscription to Time for Kids as an exciting new reading opportunity for them to challenge themselves!
