My Students

Self-contained classrooms are often stigmatized around children who “can’t” do things. Not in our classroom! In our classroom we have a built a community of love and learning and my students special needs are not their “disabilities” but rather, their unique qualities. My students are never a “label” and I strive everyday to ensure they know how truly incredible they are. My students needs vary from learning how to write and count to learning how to persevere and overcome challenging obstacles, such as tackling a hard math strategy to their social-emotional well being.

In this class, we accept each other’s differences because they are in fact what make us unique and special.

Within our classroom, I have high yet attainable expectations for my students and as they persevere to meet their highest potential, they begin to realize if you work hard and try your best, anything is possible. The work we do in our classroom is so much more about academics. We learn the importance of building positive relationships, creating a safe and inclusive environment, and most of all, always reaching for the stars!

My Project

Within a self-contained classroom, there are a variety of needs and my goal is to ensure that each child has the tools to meet their goals! With these new tablets, my students will be able to focus and work independently, which will ultimately lead to academic and emotional achievement! Assistive technology will not only foster the students current skills, but enhance them as well! As my students continue to persevere to strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills, within the classroom and at home, individual tablets will guide them through their journey to success!
