This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 30 motivated students who want to learn everything about anything. This will be their first experience in a middle school setting. Many of the students come from a low socioeconomic background, with limited resources available. Our school, built in 1965, is a Title I school in Nevada, serving 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with 100% participation in the free breakfast and lunch program.

My students are incredible and are eager to learn with the materials that are given to them and the materials their teacher can provide.

Students are grouped in teams to build relationships with faculty, staff, and peers. This allows them to keep the same core set of teachers who will stay with them for their entire middle school journey. Our middle school is home to a diverse group of students.

My Project

In order for our robotics club students to gain the necessary skills needed to participate in an actual competition, they require a competitive field where they can practice their driving skills. The students also need to be able to code the robot to accomplish set challenges.

A big part of the competition requires the students to code their robots to perform a series of tasks autonomously on the field.

The robotics club is just starting out and we do not have much basic equipment needed for them to train for next year's robotics competitions. This field would give them a chance to develop their skills as a robotics coder.
