I am the proud music teacher of about 250 wonderful middle and high school students. Many families of the students I work with are in a lower income range, and they come from very diverse backgrounds.
My students are dedicated, motivated to learn and to share their passion for music with their community.
The music department is currently growing at both of the schools that I teach at in my district, so much so that the number of students involved have doubled in just one year. I am inspired by each of my students every day, and I am grateful to watch them develop a deep love for music and performance.
My Project
My students at our school need an euphonium to fulfill the needs of our growing ensemble. Our music department is flourishing and there are not enough instruments for all students who are interested in playing! The music department in both the middle school and high school have doubled in numbers in just one year!
I have many students motivated and excited to join band, but I do not have enough instruments to accommodate them.
The low brass section-which is comprised of trombones, euphoniums, and tubas- is an integral group of instruments to our ensemble, and one of the fastest growing here at our high school.
My students need an euphonium to add to our low brass section. Last year at our school, I had no students playing low brass. This year I have 3 students, and next year I am projecting up to 8 students on low brass instruments alone! Once we have more instruments available to students, they will be able to join band and make their performance dreams come true!
