This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students with special needs often face challenges in developing essential language and social emotional skills. As a Social Skills teacher, I always look for new and creative ways to develop their social awareness, imitation, communication and cooperative skills through play.

Having accessories to use in conjunction with a doll activity center will help my students with autism expand on their imaginative play and language skills while learning about nurturing, empathy.

The accessories will provide my students with opportunities to develop fine motor skills, as they interact with the materials while engaging in feeding, dressing, bathing and putting the dolls to bed. Additionally, the carriers and floor time playset will expand the play experience, encouraging storytelling and role-playing, promoting cognitive development. Having these accessories to use along with the doll activity center and stroller will provide the structure, predictability and repetition my students need to flourish through interactive doll play.
