What do you remember most about your fourth grade experience? Was it the content you learned? Maybe it was a caring teacher, or a new friendship. Our classroom community is one of encouragement and acceptance. Students are compassionate listeners and respectful of each other's feelings.
When students leave my classroom, I want them to remember a place where everyone found success.
Our classroom is an inclusion classroom for students with special needs. This means we have both general education and special education students in our class. We have a diverse community with various needs. Student interests vary between sports, singing, art, fashion design, and nature, but all students are interested in technology. Whether it is an app, game, or video, all students share a common interest in technology and social media, my students want to succeed. Some might say that many of my students will have a difficult time overcoming obstacles in their lives, but I believe that my students are more determined, capable, and spirited than most. I believe that providing a technology-rich environment will greatly impact their motivation as lifelong learners.
My Project
Nothing is more frustrating than trying to learn something new when you can’t see the presenter or their materials. With a class of 29 students, it’s a challenge to give everyone a front-row learning experience. The benefit of a document camera is that our work can be projected for all students to see.
A document camera will allow our learning environment to become much more effective.
Science demonstrations will be more effective when all 29 of my students will be able to fully see experiments. Students will be able to instantly share their work with the whole class. As a teacher, I will be able to record videos with audio and post them online for students to view during centers, or at home for extra help with homework.
