Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are curious, hard-working 6th graders who are excited about learning and have persevered against unprecedented obstacles to continue their education remotely. They are kind, caring and want to change the world, and I'm so proud of them. All of my students are students of color and many of them come from low-income households.
My Project
All students deserve to see themselves, their cultures and identities represented in the literature available in their classroom. These middle reader books are engaging and meaningful texts that will build my students' literacy skills while dealing with the issues that many of them face in their own lives and communities.
Having a diverse classroom library will help me encourage a love of reading in my students that will last a lifetime.
I've selected a range of different titles with the goal of having many books available for my students to borrow whenever they want.
