This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title One school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together and they encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My Project
My students are creative and they love to think outside of the box. Getting these diorama materials into the hands of my students would be essential in their eyes.
A diorama is a three-dimensional scene used to creatively express learning.
Dioramas are used in my classroom as a learning tool to help show a student's understanding of a certain subject matter. They use pizza boxes and shoe boxes to retell stories, create landforms, and even tell an animal's habitat. Dioramas allow all students to feel successful because they get to share thier understanding of a topic in a nonthreatening way.
