My students are amazing and work so hard. They are 6th graders in a tiny rural east Texas junior high school.
My classroom is an adventure, and my students spend the year learning the skills they will need as they move forward in their junior high careers.
My students are excited to be on the "big kid" campus and begin the scary world of junior high. They are ready to explore the world through science and social studies (world history) and to expand their way of thinking. They take so much pride in their work and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning. They are still wanting to "please" their teacher and try so hard at all they do.
I want to provide my students with as many exciting, hands-on, and real world opportunities and adventures as I possibly can. Many of my students are economically disadvantaged and have limited resources. I want my students to know each and every day that they are smart, loved, cared for, and, most importantly, that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.
My Project
Social and emotional wellness plays an important role in our student’s daily lives and learning environment. I want my students to be successful and well-rounded citizens. I want them to exhibit empathy to others, show self-discipline in all situations and have self-confidence. I feel that a Cricut machine and supplies are a great way for my students to be able to show these characteristics. My students have been discussing ways to cope with their feelings. We will be discussing feelings and coming up with quotes and phrases that are positive, show kindness and lift up others. The Cricut Maker and vinyl will allow my students to create stickers (of uplifting words and phrases) to decorate their backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles, notebooks, binders and other supplies. They will have a constant reminder of these uplifting words and phrases and other students will see these words and phrases on my student’s supplies and be encouraged to be better students and citizens. We will be able to make stickers for the other students as well to spread kindness, confidence and empathy to others. This will be a great way to spread kindness and happiness throughout our campus.
A Cricut Maker, vinyl, blades and other cricut supplies will allow my students to work as a team to make these uplifting stickers for themselves and other students on campus.
