This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My amazing sixth graders represent a variety of cultural backgrounds, interests, and learning styles. Each one of my sixth graders is unique, which makes my classroom an amazing environment to foster cultural awareness. It's important for my students to see themselves in the books we read. These novels will allow for rich discussion as we teach and learn from one another. A collection of diverse texts will allow us to address relatable themes of social justice, discrimination, multiracial families, and difficult school situations. Diverse books are sure to cultivate acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity.
