I love working with my second and third-grade English language learners. The majority of them come from Micronesia and other Pacific Islander cultures.
As a motivation to write an instructional informational piece students will read about and then write how to create arts and crafts from their native cultures.
Then they will use the materials from this DonorsChoose project to create those arts and crafts. We will make a book representing all the writings with pictures of their finished products that will be shared throughout the school community.
My students have absolutely loved every project that we have done that has been funded by this amazing platform, DonorsChoose. They love it so much that they drive their teachers crazy asking "Is this the day I go to Miss Misty's class?"
