A Creative Holiday Production for the Enjoyment of Our School!

Help me give my students 10 elf costumes, a Santa Claus costume, 10 pairs of pajamas for the orphans, and a Blue Fairy costume. Also, the stage needs panels for the stage production.

My Project

Our second-grade students are excited about putting on a holiday production entitled Santa and Mrs. Claus Save the Day. Our school in Pahoa is in a low-income area. Most students don't wear pajamas to bed. It is a warm climate and kids usually wear T-shirts and shorts. I need 10 pajamas and 10 elf outfits for the production. Most families cannot afford to buy them and I don't feel comfortable asking them. Also, the stage is not used much for performing arts. There are no flats or dividers to use for production. I would love to have sturdy panels to make the sets on the stage.

Performing arts and music need to be a higher priority in elementary schools because it is such an important part of their educational experience.

The joy I receive from seeing the excitement in children right before the performance begins. Then, after it is over they are on cloud nine and continue to talk about their experience for years. Acting on stage is not an easy thing to do. Students have to memorize lines, learn their blocking, and project their voices. They learn teamwork while working with the cast. Students become more self-confident and are eager to try new things. All of these things will help them become better students and encourage them to come to school and graduate.
