This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach first grade at a two-way immersion school where both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers come together to learn a new language from one another. Our sweet, bilingual students are hardworking, kind, and a joy to teach. I am so proud to be their teacher!
I am requesting modeling clay for each student, skin-tone colored pencils, and storage containers to help my first graders explore their creative sides.
Last year I was able to provide my students each with their own set of modeling clay. It was one of their favorite activities to pull out when they had free time or needed a few moments to themselves to calm down. I was blown away by their creations using the clay. The use of clay also strengthens children's hands and fingers which can help improve fine motor skills. I am requesting a classroom set of modeling clay for my new students to use throughout the school year. I am also requesting storage containers to keep the clay soft and malleable. Finally, I am requesting Colors of the World colored pencils for students to use on art projects this school year.
