My 1st graders are active, kind, talented, and curious students who love to be independent and have opportunities to make their own choices. My students are focused on learning future-ready skills that will help them become successful, active adults in the community. These skills include collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and flexibility.
My students are very active thinkers who love hands-on activities that challenge them to learn.
In our classroom we strive to celebrate each other's strengths while we overcome and learn from our weaknesses.
My Project
In our classroom, we frequently meet as a whole group to do activities and class meetings. Group meeting activities help build classroom community and re-focus students' attention. A carpet with clearly delineated seating areas will help my first graders know where to sit so they can focus on the learning. This will give my students a cozy space and a clearly defined area to sit. Having this carpet in our classroom will save invaluable time, as energy can be focused on teaching and learning, rather than on directing and redirecting students on where to sit and to stay in their own space.
Important instructional time will be saved because students will have clear expectations about where to sit every time they come to the carpet to learn.
Each student deserves to have a space of their own and this classroom rug will be a valuable addition to our classroom.
