it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th grade students need a safe, comfortable space to retreat to in a crowded classroom with little free floor space to move around. I have a weird, booth-shaped notch in the back wall of the room that is perfect for a cozy spot to retreat to when they feel the walls closing in and nowhere to hide. A comfy beanbag chair and sensory toys would help to make it an inviting spot instead of a time out corner that could be felt to be a punishment. Such a spot would keep kids in the room, available to learn, and be available by choice.
