This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom serves a wonderful group of students with special needs who thrive in a calm, structured, and sensory-friendly environment. One of the most cherished areas in our room is our classroom library — a quiet corner where students can read, relax, and refocus.

Right now, our library space is missing something essential: a clean, soft rug that offers comfort, helps define the area, and encourages students to sit and engage with books.

A rug may seem simple, but it makes a huge difference for our students, especially those with sensory sensitivities. It provides a tactile surface, reduces noise, and helps create a welcoming space where students feel safe and calm.

With your help, we can turn our reading area into a cozy, clean, and inviting oasis where students can fall in love with books. This rug will not only support literacy and social-emotional growth, but it will also provide a sensory-friendly place for students to recharge and connect with learning
