This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher in a general education class of 24 students. I want to provide my students with a wonderful learning environment full of hands-on experiences that encourage them to use their creative minds while learning the curriculum and core concepts.

My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood and a lack of funding requires that teachers spend their own money to provide many of the resources for their students.

My students are enthusiastic learners who deserve the best education and materials to support their learning.

My Project

Who doesn't love to kick back in a cozy corner and read a great book? These bean bags look like a wonderful way to entice my students to want to check out the library corner. At first it might be just about the bean bags, but soon they will enjoy hanging out and reading just as much as they love the block corner. I want the library corner to be as organized as possible so that my students will be able to find the books they are searching for and having these large book bins will help my students clean up and take care of our library books.

Teaching reading can be very challenging, but it is also an amazing gift to be part of the journey over the course of the first year as they learn to read with independence and success.

My goal is for each of my students to be as prepared as possible for the first grade curriculum and to love the act of learning to read. Thank you for your support and generosity.
