A Cozy Classroom for Kindergarteners!

My students need a learning carpet and a set of small pillows for our classroom space.

My Students

Our Kindergarten class cannot wait to learn and grow. They are fired up when we come to our lesson space, eager for the new discoveries that are about to happen.

I teach a class of 22 incredible Kindergarteners who have named themselves The Moon Jellyfish.

This year is especially exciting for us as we are the first cohort of kindergarteners at our brand new charter school. We are helping to shape our new space and make it feel more welcoming and calming.

My Project

A learning carpet and small pillows would help transform our classroom space into an even more productive and warm environment. The individual squares on the carpet will allow for students to sit in their own "personal bubble" during learning time. We can also use the color rows on the carpet to create groupings during small group lessons and games. The pillows will add a cozy option during rest and read and independent reading time. Plus, they are washable!

The learning carpet will not only add a touch of soft color to our environment, but provide a structured space for our students to gather.

We often have time wasted before lessons trying to figure out where to sit. We will be able to save precious learning time with clearer expectations around our carpet spot. Our Kindergarteners are also still developing body and spatial awareness and carpet squares will help all of our students stay focused on the lesson at hand.
