My Project
What I love most about my students is their huge hearts and their determination to grow, even when things get tough. My class is made up of young learners in grades K–2 who are navigating not just the academic world, but also learning how to communicate their needs and emotions—many in more than one language. They are brave, kind, and full of potential. I see them trying their best every day, even when the world feels overwhelming for them.
Many of my students struggle with emotional regulation or sensory sensitivities, and when those feelings get big, they need a safe space to reset.
That’s where the Lakeshore All-in-One Calming Corner comes in. This resource would give them a cozy, welcoming area to take a break, breathe, and regain their focus. It’s not about punishment—it’s about offering support. I want them to know it’s okay to feel upset, and that they have tools and spaces to help them move through those emotions in healthy ways.
This calming corner will also help me teach critical social-emotional learning (SEL) skills like self-awareness, empathy, and problem-solving. With the visual aids, fidget tools, and soft seating included, the space will be a quiet little sanctuary in our classroom where students can build lifelong skills in managing stress and expressing their needs.
By supporting this project, you're helping create a classroom that celebrates the whole child. You're giving my students not just a place to learn, but a place to feel safe, understood, and empowered. Thank you for believing in their potential and supporting their journey.
