it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A cozy calm corner will help my students regulate their emotions in the safety of their own classroom. Students often need to take the time to relax and unwind. Our children are exposed to so much trauma and pain caused by our social and political climate. Students are called to tap into their critical thinking skills and present their understandings, which is often challenging for a class with diverse learners and mostly English language learners.
A calm corner will give my students the time to collect their thoughts and to regulate their emotions in a clutter free area of their own.
The calm corner will give students the opportunity to choose their seating option and also the social emotional tool that will help them regulate their emotions. A calm corner in our classroom will support emotional regulation and learning.
