This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a small rural school located in St. Martinville, Louisiana. We currently have 563 students. The school consists of 70.7% African Americans, 25.9% white students, 2.6% Latino, and .7% Hispanic. Our students come from very economically disadvantaged families who struggle to provide basic needs for their children.
My school serves students in grades 2-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment for students.
My school is a Leader in Me School and a STEM school.
My Project
Our school recently became a STEM school. My students love completing STEM activities, especially Robitics. However, it can be very frustrating when they do not have clear instructions for building these robots. In order to effectively engage in some of our STEM activities, we are in need of a copy machine. It is very difficult for younger students to build robots without printed instructions. This copy machine will allow me to print instruction so that my students can build and program their robots. In the end, the copy machine will assist in helping my student succeed in STEM activities because the material will be easily accessible.
