FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Williams's classroom raised $941
This project is fully funded
My Students
I teach AP English Literature and Dual Enrollment Writing classes; students are constantly writing and need to print to annotate and turn in assignments. Our school does not have a copier for my students, and most don't have access at home. These items will help tremendously.
My students are 11th and 12th graders from the inner city.
They have a unique opportunity to take college level classes in high school, but no means of correctly completing tasks given.
My school has finally gotten off the "F" list (it is a historic African American school in the community); some students are not expected to go to college, so this opportunity to take college level classes gives them a heads up into what they will encounter and their expectations when they venture out beyond these walls.
These seemingly minor items will really make a difference in their lives.
My Project
My students will be able to print up scholarship information, testing schedules (ACT/SAT/AP), complete assignments, copy college applications, financial aid, and housing information in preparation for college matriculation. For example, I assign research papers. Students will be able to print up their final drafts and see the process through from beginning to end. In my building right now there is no way for them to do this. Most students do not have the means of printing their papers, whether it be because of lack of ink or a printer.
As my students prepare for the AP English Literature exams in May, I would like them to be able to annotate their poems and short stories. Also, they would be able to see Anchor papers that I've copied for them. They would have a fighting chance in May.
My students will be able to comprehend the importance of deadlines and follow-through.
They will be able to be more responsible. This will trickle over into their lives after high school. I want to teach them responsibility and thoroughness.
