This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When history calls, my students listen. Then they answer the call by doing research and blogging. Let's help them out by giving them more computers in the classroom.

My sixth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.

Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and all of them love to learn. I teach history to all the sixth graders in our school, plus science to my own homeroom. In our spare time, we create projects that impact our whole student body. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids, who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.

My Project

Romans, Greeks, Egyptians--my sixth graders are learning all about these cultures in our history class. They love writing about history on their blogs, but they have to take turns using the computers. This is hard to do in a one hour period for all of the students. Sometimes they have to wait several days before they have a chance to get on a laptop to write or research, and then the learning effectiveness diminishes. We need more laptops in the classroom. With this proposal, we will add to our growing computer collection so every student will be able to get on the computers at the same time. We are asking for 10 Chromebooks and a surge protector.

With your generous donation, my classroom will be that much closer to having one computer for every student.
