My Project
My incoming first-graders have never known a "regular"start to a school year. Covid-19 has been a part of their learning and learning environment ever since they began school. As we prepare for another school year with another new "normal", I am so motivated and excited to give my new students the best learning environment that I can!
The materials in this project were chosen to promote comfortable communal seating and collaborative learning.
My soon-to-be new students have been learning in relative isolation, either by sitting in their own "safe" space at three to six feet apart or through a computer screen. This year, I hope to help them to grow more comfortable learning and socializing in groups.
As an educator for almost 25 years, I know how important it is that my students feel comfortable, secure, and hopefully a little inspired in their learning environment. The colorful rugs, stools, and pillows selected for this project will provide an inviting space to gather and work in. The fluffy mats will be used during our daily mindfulness practice and in our "calm corner". The large dry erase easel will allow the children to share and record their experiences studying as a group.
My new little learners have had a lot of "extra" challenges ever since they first began their school careers. With this project and your support, I hope to give them an inspirational start to what I aim to make an exceptional year!
