Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach fourth grade bilingual students at an elementary school. Many of my students are fairly new to this country and learning what education in the United States has to offer. We are a Title I school where all students are offered free lunch.
Every student that enters my room brings different life experiences, perspectives and different learning levels; however, my job is to make each of them feel at home and provide them with an education that will meet their learning styles as well as confidence.
We are an eager and energetic bunch and are excited about this school year!
My Project
Working in a Title I school, my students are in need of writing supplies to be prepared for our awesome writing units. My students do not have access to supplies we take for granted. Inclusive in this are writing utensils, writing paper, and several other items needed to complete our writer's workshop writing. I have included a microphone so that we can share our writing with the class and practice our language skills.
I need each student to feel confident in their writing which begins with having all the necessary tools to be succesful.
Not only do my students need these items for class but in order to complete assignments and HW at home.
