This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from different walks of life. Some were born outside the U.S. without any knowledge of the English language, while others were born here but their English skills are still developing. They all share many commonalities. They are English Language Learners, they are excited to learn and they come to school with hope, enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.
I teach in an urban school where 97% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.
In addition, they live in an area the is heavily populated and where there is a large volume of traffic. Although it is a struggle for them, they put forth all their energy in learning and building both their literacy and languagae skills.
My Project
My students need these comfy floor pillows to bring excitement about READING! I would love to create a nook for the students to have a very special place to read. It is my hope that these comfy reading pillows will encourage them to read independently and foster their love of reading.
My students come from overcrowded homes where many don't have a place to retreat.
I want to provide my students with the chance to have that experience in my classroom.
Your generous donation will help create a warm and inviting area where students can lose themselves in words and books. Let's make reading a truly fun experience!
