Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Being a student in today's world has become very difficult especially when it come to their mental health. If students aren't mentally healthy they can not become academically successful. My project is meant to help my students understand that it is ok to feel overwhelmed and it is also ok to take time to take care of themselves.
My project is for creating an area where they can take a short break from academics and feel comfortable and at home within the classroom.
All the items that I have included will allow students be allowed some time to unwind. The bean bags will allow them a comfortable sitting area. The markers, coloring books and blankets will allow them to take them mind off whatever it is that they are worrying or stressed out about. The inspirational items and will help me make this space specific and special for all my students.
I am an special education teacher who also holds a counseling credential and understands how imperative mental health is to students' academics. I want to my students to know that I am here for them not only academically but also emotionally.
