This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all English Language Learners and come from a very low socieconomic background. Most of their parents cannot speak English and they all live in low income apartments. Their world is very limited. They are also the sweetest and most respectful students you could ask for. As as teacher, I feel that I have a greater responsibility to make every day count. My students have so many challenges in their lives, and they really depend on us to give them the necessary skills to be productive citizens.

My Project

My students need a comfortable area for reading. Currently they can only sit on a worn carpet or at their chairs. These flexible seating options, carpet, and book bins would provide them with an adequate space for reading. My students do not have a comfortable space at home for reading. This project would help me a create a special place for them. It would motivate them to read at a place where they can feel safe. My students are all English Language Learners and I know that reading will be fundamental for their lives. I want to provide them with the best environment possible.
