Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you remember walking into your classroom on the first day of school? Do you remember how exciting it was to see your new environment? Every student deserves the opportunity to be excited about their classroom!

My students attend an inner city school where funds are very limited.

They come from a wide range of backgrounds and family situations, where school provides a common ground for each of my students. My students are able to come to school ready to learn knowing they are walking into a safe environment.

My Project

It's simple - I'm asking for your help to provide my students with a nice circle carpet for the front of our classroom. It will provide my students with a central place where we can come together as a class. We spend a lot of time on the carpet as a class. We use it for all of our lessons as well as many other times throughout the day. My students are also able to use the carpet during individual reading and group time.

A simple thing like a carpet helps make a classroom feel much more welcoming.

It helps students get excited about learning because it helps provide a safe place to do so. I do my best to provide all that I am able to for my students, in order to help them gain the foundations to be successful.
