A Comfortable Place Outside

My Students

My students are your prototypical middle school students. They love to learn (even if they won't admit to it) and they love to have fun (even when they are not supposed to). The school I teach at is a Title l school. The students come from a diverse background both socially and economically. A majority of the students qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Every day I have the pleasure of teaching at a school which is consistently working to achieve both the dreams of Thomas Jefferson and Dr. King.

My Project

The modern classroom is no longer about students working silently in rows. Modern learning is messy with students working all over the place. The classroom can often become loud and chaotic as the students investigate history. Due to this, many students wish to work outside.

Unfortunately, the only place outside my classroom to sit is the cement.

It is hard to concentrate on your work when you are forced to sit on the hard cold cement. My hope is that this table will give the students a place where they can not only work outside but become better humans through dialogue with their peers.

Sometimes the only thing that is required as a teacher is to give your students a place where they can be successful. This is my goal and the goal of this project. Please help support my students in becoming their best selves.
