This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a low income area in southern California, with students who are amazing people. They just need a chance and some encouragement.
Our differences don't matter, as we are all building each other up.
The uniqueness of each student plays an important role in our classroom. I've discovered that some of my most difficult students are the ones who have a lack of confidence in themselves. I have a few students who have difficulties in other classrooms, but in my classroom are shining examples. A particular student recently wowed me with their abilities in a certain math area and as soon as I saw their abilities in this area, I built them up by assigning them 5 other students to assist in the mastering of the concept. I walked around observing the different group work through-out the classroom and was amazed, because all of the students working in this area with the student were so focused on the task at hand. My students really come together in my classroom.
My Project
I try to make my classroom a place where all my students feel welcome. The classroom is a second home and should be a place where the students feel comfortable.
Students learn best when they feel their best.
I am trying to make sure that each student has a place that fits them. A comfortable spot on the floor to sit, or a chair that allows for some quiet movement to release energy.
Every student is different and has different needs so every classroom should look different and have many options to help meet as many needs as possible.
