I am lucky enough to teach most of my students for two consecutive years. I teach an English program that works with a local community college to support students who otherwise might not find college attainable for them. I teach many ESL (English as a Second Language) students, as well as special education students, and students of color. I work with students as Juniors to give them extra support and practice to then tackle their first college-level, dual-credit English class with me as a senior. Teaching these students two years in a row allows me to develop strong, long-lasting relationships that I cherish. Seeing them find their confidence as scholars makes my job the best job in the world!
Not all students are successful when asked to sit still and pay attention.
I want to try a new flexible seating option as a trial run. With these materials, students will get the chance to take turns at the standing desk or sitting at the taller table. I believe this will be great for those students who just need a little change to reengage.
