The sandbags have become one of the most versatile tools in our room—students use them for carries, squats, presses, and stability drills. Because sandbags shift and move while being lifted, they help students develop real-world strength, balance, and coordination in a way that traditional weights can't. They've also been especially helpful for beginners who feel more confident starting with soft, non-metal equipment before progressing to barbells.\r\n\r\nThe weightlifting belts have boosted both safety and performance. Many students in our large classes are new to lifting, and the belts give them valuable support during heavier squats and deadlifts. With better core bracing and proper body mechanics, students are lifting with more confidence and fewer form errors. This has allowed them to challenge themselves, set goals, and see their progress week to week—something that has noticeably increased motivation across the room.","fullyFundedDate":1755825474375,"projectUrl":"project/building-strength-for-future-builders/9631532/","projectTitle":"Building Strength for Future Builders","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Hackney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8987207"},{"teacherId":6615634,"projectId":9167162,"letterContent":"As a dedicated reader, I cannot express my gratitude for the gift of high interest books for my classroom. This is a resource that is invaluable to my students but is also quite expensive. I have such an array of student ability levels and interests, so the more options I have-- the better! I hope that through these novels, my students will also find their passion for reading and seeking out the answers to the questions reading facilitates.\r\n\r\nCurrently, students are using these novels to engage is extended research for their first research paper of the year. We have so appreciated the additional lighting to create a warm environment that combats the darkness of the concrete walls and drop ceiling. My students thank me for sparing them from the harsh florescent lights that trigger their headaches. The skinny lamps are perfect for fitting into the corners to provide enough lights for all of my table groups. \r\nAdding to the warmth and positive energy is the greenery. I have created such a cute cozy corner to cover up graffiti that was on the built-in cabinet. The upgrade makes me so happy. Right in the middle of the greenery wall, I added the good day sign to encourage optimism for my students. They have commented on how much more pleasant it is in my room now which especially helps my reluctant learners who are not always thrilled to be in school. During both open house and parent-teacher conferences, parents complimented the decor, commenting on how pleasant and welcoming the space felt and that is all thanks to the kindness and generosity of my donors.
