Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our campus is at 98% free and reduced lunch. Our scholars come from a low socio-economic background, yet each and every one of them strive to make our community a much better place through hosting community farmer's markets and initiatives like 'No Place for Hate'.
Our scholars learn how to communicate, collaborate, be creative, and critically think through the Canvas platform to help them strive to be better at their 21st Century skills.
Our scholars have interests in robotics, coding, and other STEAM related activities which better help their understanding of current 21st century skills and help open various doors later in life.
My Project
My scholars would love to use a set of headphones with microphones for the class. With these headphones, they will be able to have their voice heard. In some assignments, they are required to write a response to what they have learned, or they are required to write explanations with evidence about an investigation we have done in class. These headphones with microphones will allow those students who do not feel as comfortable reading or writing, the opportunity to really show off their knowledge in a different and interesting way by recording a video of themselves, or creating their very own podcast. My scholars would also love to have an area rug and scensty to make our classroom feel more at home. This will allow them to feel as comfortable as possible and be able to concentrate on the task at hand.
Studies have show that students thrive in a classroom that is comfortable and accommodating to their every need.
Our scholars yearn to do great in everything they do, however, it some cases, it is harder for some scholars to do the best that they can. With these materials, they will be able to reach for the stars.
