This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend an inner-city charter school. The students in our school come from many diverse backgrounds. Most of them speak a language other than English as their first language. My students also conquer life while having special needs.
Our schools create an achievement-focused school culture by sweating the small stuff while fostering meaningful, personalized relationships between students and adults.
They want to soak up knowledge and new experiences. By the time they walk into school, many of them have overcome the struggles of poverty, broken homes, and homelessness. Our charter school takes PRIDE in both academic and social-emotional growth. The journey begins here.
My Project
Our special education resource rooms need a color printer! With a new printer we also will need ink cartridges.
Printing in color will make task cards and interactive books more attractive and engaging.
To keep our students engaged with at their level activities we use a lot of task cards and interactive books. The students we teach have a variety of disabilities like autism spectrum disorders, down syndrome and learning disabilities as well as emotional and behavioral struggles. This means we need to plan many activities for the time we are with them. By having a color printer to use whenever we need it, these activities will be so much easier to prep and keep the students excited to come and learn with our team.
