Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a diverse area of the Salt Lake Valley. I have students who are first generation Americans, immigrants, and who come from multi-generational households. I love learning from them and watching them learn from each other.
I want to give my students a warm, loving, colorful classroom to learn in.
I have already decorated my classroom in bright rainbow colors but I would like to add to that decor. The front wall of my classroom is made of bulletin board material. The majority of items in my project are high quality paper to cover that wall in stripes of color. The posters and frames will also be put up around my room to encourage positivity and the welcome mat will be placed by my desk. It will serve as a spot for students to stand, indicating to me that they need to chat.
The final items included in the project are to replace worn out supplies. Headphones take quite a beating throughout the year as they are used daily for math practice (and sometimes reading and science), and the pencil sharpener is one that is especially good for colored pencils which we use for all subjects - science, math, ELA, and, of course, art.
