My Students
Have you ever tried to play baseball, football, or tennis without the use of your hands?
My students have disabilities (Autism, orthopedic impairment, cerebral palsy that make it very hard to coordinate gross motor and fine motor movements. They also have difficulty registering tactile information. Some of my students use wheelchairs to get around and use switches to communicate and control classroom materials.
My Project
I have requested a soft mat, a foam baseball bat, football, and other sports equipment that will help my kids develop the motor control, motor planning, and coordination needed to play a modified sports game. Your contribution will have a huge impact on my kids by allowing them to play, laugh, and learn about the world in a safe environment.
This project will not only help my students play sports, it will help them learn motor control that will transfer to other areas of occupation, for example, self-care, writing, and communication. Help empower my students to improve their ability to move through fun and engaging activities.
